Transformation Area Lead
Duties (Tasks & Responsibilities)
Transformation Leadership & Project Management
- Lead and coordinate NATO's portfolio of cloud, data, and AI transformation initiatives.
- Develop and maintain transformation roadmaps aligned with strategic objectives and business outcomes.
- Manage multiple concurrent projects and workstreams, ensuring delivery against scope, schedule, and objectives.
- Coordinate project dependencies, resources, budgets, timelines, and delivery risks.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate programme and project risks.
- Ensure compliance with NATO governance, security, and accreditation requirements, including Security Accreditation of CIS where applicable.
- Monitor programme performance and drive continuous improvement across transformation initiatives.
Roadmap Development & Strategic Planning
- Develop and maintain an integrated enterprise transformation roadmap covering Cloud, Data, and AI.
- Define milestones, releases, decision gates, and implementation priorities.
- Manage technical, operational, procurement, security, and resource dependencies.
- Coordinate sequencing of initiatives to optimize delivery and reduce implementation risks.
- Ensure alignment between enterprise architecture, cybersecurity, service management, programme teams, and business stakeholders.
- Maintain consistency across multiple transformation programmes and organizational functions.
Stakeholder Management & Governance
- Build and maintain relationships with senior NATO leadership, business owners, programme teams, security authorities, and external stakeholders.
- Support and coordinate governance boards and committees such as the Cloud Strategy Group.
- Represent the CDT Division during governance meetings and transformation forums.
- Facilitate workshops, working groups, and cross-functional problem-solving sessions.
- Prepare executive-level briefings, presentations, reports, and decision papers.
- Drive stakeholder engagement and organizational alignment throughout transformation programmes.
Communication & Reporting
- Produce executive-quality documentation, governance reports, and strategic communications.
- Present complex technical and business topics clearly to senior leadership.
- Report progress, risks, issues, and recommendations to the CDT Team Lead.
- Ensure effective communication across enterprise-wide transformation initiatives.
Requirements
Mandatory Requirements
- Minimum 8 years of experience leading enterprise digital transformation programmes within NATO or similarly complex government, defence, military, or critical infrastructure organizations.
- Minimum 8 years in senior leadership or management positions with accountability for budgets, teams, programme delivery, and strategic outcomes.
- Proven experience managing large industry contracts and commercial delivery governance.
- Strong business and strategic planning skills with the ability to translate strategy into executable transformation roadmaps.
- Demonstrated experience managing enterprise portfolios across Cloud, Data, and Artificial Intelligence initiatives.
- Excellent English communication skills, including executive-level presentations and written documentation.
- Proven ability to influence and lead senior stakeholders without direct reporting authority.
- Active NATO SECRET Security Clearance (mandatory).
Desired Requirements
- Experience with NATO Security Accreditation Policy and security assurance processes.
- Professional certification in programme or project management (PMP, PRINCE2, MSP or equivalent).
- Experience with IT governance frameworks such as COBIT.
- Experience with ITIL service management practices.
- Knowledge of organizational change management methodologies.
- Experience with on-premises data centres and secure or air-gapped cloud environments.

- Experience implementing Responsible AI or AI governance in secure environments.
- Experience working in multinational and multicultural organizations.
- Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills across diverse organizations.
- Experience coordinating enterprise architecture, cybersecurity, procurement, and service management functions.
- Ability to work effectively in highly secure, politically complex, and matrix-managed environments.
- Willingness to work full-time on-site at NATO Headquarters in Brussels with occasional travel to NATO organizations.
