Duties
- Fix routing & switching issues (1st line) across NATO networks
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain networks using tools (OpenView, Splunk, Netscout, Cisco)
- Do remote maintenance config changes
- Coordinate with sites and teams on incidents and standardisation
- Write SOPs, docs, test plans
- Support network design/config for exercises & operations
- Test setups, evaluate tools, and improve network performance
- Investigate recurring issues and propose long-term fixes
- Support on-site validation/testing when needed
Requirements
- Degree 2 yrs exp or ~6 yrs strong hands-on
- 4 yrs Cisco routing & switching CCNP
- Strong troubleshooting (network/system/app level)
- Experience with:
- Monitoring tools (Splunk, OpenView, etc.)
- Network automation
- Incident management (e.g. Remedy)
- Deep networking knowledge:
- OSPF, BGP (advanced), EIGRP, IS-IS
- LAN: VLANs, STP, HSRP, security features
- QoS, multicast, VRFs
- Security: 802.1x, RADIUS/TACACS , VPNs (IPSEC, DMVPN, etc.)
- Experience with large multi-vendor IP networks (5 yrs)
- Some exposure to Linux, scripting, datacenters/virtualisation, IPv6
- NATO/military environment knowledge is a plus
