Senior Assistant Learning Design
Key Duties & Responsibilities
1. Training Development Support
- Assist in developing training materials aligned with course design, SOW, and Academy standards
- Support adaptation and tailoring of in-house training solutions
- Maintain and update training documentation (lesson plans, handouts, schedules, CCDs)
- Ensure all training deliverables are prepared according to project timelines
2. Quality Assurance & Review
- Coordinate and support reviews of training materials before delivery
- Validate training solutions delivered by external/industry partners
- Ensure alignment with learning objectives and standards
3. Learning Systems & Course Management
- Integrate e-learning content (web courses, micro-learning, exercises) into the Learning Management System (LMS)
- Maintain and update the NCI Academy course pipeline and catalogue
- Support updates to the learning design database (LDDB)
4. Project & Administrative Support
- Support execution of training development projects
- Organize and coordinate Training Needs Analysis (TNA) working groups and kick-off meetings
- Handle scheduling, minute-taking, and document distribution
5. General Support
- Assist senior learning designers in all phases of course development
- Perform additional duties as required
Requirements
Education
- Bachelor’s degree 3 years experience, OR
- 8 years relevant experience (in lieu of degree)
Experience
- Minimum 3 years in project/service support in a customer-facing role
- Experience with instructional design models, such as:
- ADDIE
- SAM (Successive Approximation Model)
- Action Mapping
Technical Knowledge (at least one area)
- NATO operational domains (Land, Air, Maritime, Logistics, JISR)
- Command & Control Functional Services (C2FS)
- Cyber Security / Cyber Defence
- Experience with systems like McAfee ePolicy
- Certifications such as:
- Microsoft MCSA/MCSE
- VMware VCP
- Cisco CCNA
Desirable Experience
- Learning Management Systems (e.g., Moodle)
- Delivering technical training (to both technical and non-technical audiences)
- Experience in military or technical environments
- Agile or other project methodologies
- Training Needs Analysis (TNA)
- Authoring tools (e.g., Adobe Captivate, Articulate Storyline)
