Statement of Work / Duties

The DCIS Engineer will provide expert engineering support as part of the NISC/ID&E/OPEX team for NATO’s Deployable CIS systems (DCIS), including design, test, implementation, deployment, and support of new IT baselines. Specific duties include:

  1. Professional and technical contributions to the design, development, and execution of DCIS engineering projects.

  2. Participation in a DevOps environment: continuous integration, change management, deployment automation, and system monitoring.

  3. Senior support for incident management, service requests, and problem resolution.

  4. DCIS engineering support for planning and executing NATO-approved exercises (on-site or remote).

  5. Document designs, implementations, and troubleshooting guides.

  6. Plan, schedule, and lead technical support teams for projects and exercises.

  7. Provide on-the-job training to maintain highly skilled technical support.

  8. Deputize for higher-grade staff as needed.

  9. Perform additional duties as required.


Qualifications & Requirements

Essential

  • Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline from a nationally recognized/certified university, plus 2 years post-degree experience, OR

    • Without a degree: at least 6 years of extensive and progressive experience relevant to the post.

  • Experience (≥5 years) in deployable or large enterprise environments:

    • Centralized storage systems: FC, iSCSI, SAS, vSAN.

    • Virtualization technologies: VMware ESXi and vCenter.

    • Windows Server or RedHat Linux operating systems.

    • Directory, Identity, and Access Management (federated AD domains/forests).

    • DNS resolution, server hardening, AD troubleshooting, GPO development.

    • Microsoft Remote Desktop or similar application provisioning.

    • High availability systems (fail-over clustering, DAGs, stretched clusters).

    • Windows patching and anti-malware updates.

  • DevOps experience (≥3 years):

    • Bash or PowerShell scripting.

    • Automation and orchestration tools.

  • Other technical skills:

    • TCP/IP networking principles.

    • ITIL service management knowledge and Service Transition experience.

    • Strong technical communication skills, including writing manuals.

Desirable / Highly Valued

  • Certifications: ITIL Service Operation, Microsoft MCSA/MCSE, VMware VCP, Cisco CCDA/CCNA.

  • Experience with Ansible, VMware troubleshooting, McAfee ePolicy architecture.

  • Prior experience with Microsoft Exchange, SharePoint Server, ADFS, VEEAM Backup & Replication.

  • Experience in deployed exercises or operations environments.

  • Prior experience in international environments (military and civilian).

  • Knowledge of NATO organization, including ACO and ACT.
